This is a super easy recipe for any Mexican-style ground beef dish you may want to make. The best part is we won’t be using any packet seasoning and to give you a less salty but but more vibrant flavor. You should be able to prep and cook this dish in less than 20 minutes.
The ingredients you will need are below
Ingredients:
- 1 pound of ground beef (80/20, 90/10, its up to you)
- 1 yellow onion
- 1 bell pepper
- Cumin
- Garlic Powder
- Salt and Pepper
- Red Pepper Flakes (optional)
- Olive Oil
Steps:
First things first, the vegetables need to be diced. You should dice them to the size your liking. I personally prefer the onion diced as thinly as possible, with the bell pepper being diced large enough to give us some noticeable texture.
After your all prepped, heat up some oil in a pan to medium high heat. Throw on the onions first for a minute or two, then adding the pepper. Stir occasionally, as you are looking for for the onions to brown evenly.
Once your veggies are looking good (maybe 5 minutes), throw in the beef and break it apart if it needs it. Mix everything together so the beef cooks in with the onion and pepper. Once you have a nice mix, start the first round of seasoning. Give a generous douse of garlic powder and especially cumin. Cumin gives it that “taco” flavor we all know and love. Salt and pepper to your liking. If you like a little kick, throw in some pepper flakes as well. Stir in the seasoning and let the beef cook.
Once the beef is just about done, drain the fat from the pan and turn off the heat. Go ahead and hit your masterpiece with another round of seasoning.
And Your All Set!
Serve it up your favorite tortilla’s with as with whatever toppings or sides you desire. It goes great with some black beans and rice.
